RIDE soon to migrate to another web domain, announced in the new version of the application, while this web domain silently ceases to function! Please update your bookmarks/links once the new version of RIDE is out!
Does the application co-work with real floppy drives?
Applies to: RIDE 1.7 and later
Yes, it does. At this moment, the application mediates access to the following floppy controllers (alphabetically):
- Internal PC floppy controller, via Simon Owen's fdrawcmd (reading, writing, and reproduction of some errors). Read the driver's webpage on minimal requirements and installation. This driver is required only for access to the internal floppy controller and isn't required for any other supported devices.
- Keir Fraser's Greaseweazle V4.x (reading and writing), Windows XP pre-SP3 users must manually install and configure the usbser.sys driver that comes on XP SP3 installation CD. Python doesn't have to be installed!
- Software Preservation Society's KryoFlux (reading and writing). Read the driver's webpage on minimal requirements and installation. The proprietary DTC application doesn't have to be installed!
