RIDE soon to migrate to another web domain, announced in the new version of the application, while this web domain silently ceases to function! Please update your bookmarks/links once the new version of RIDE is out!
Does the application co-work with real floppy drives?
Applies to: RIDE 1.7 and later
Yes, it does. But as this application has been designed for Windows XP and above, you will also need a special driver to access the floppy drive. At this moment, the application mediates access to the following floppy controllers (alphabetically):
- Internal PC floppy controller, via Simon Owen's fdrawcmd (reading, writing, and reproduction of some errors). Read the driver's webpage on minimal requirements and installation.
- Keir Fraser's Greaseweazle V4.x (reading and writing), Windows XP pre-SP3 users must manually install and configure the usbser.sys driver that comes on XP SP3 installation CD. Python doesn't have to be installed!
- Software Preservation Society's KryoFlux (reading and writing). Read the driver's webpage on minimal requirements and installation. The proprietary DTC application doesn't have to be installed!
