RIDE soon to migrate to another web domain, announced in the new version of the application, while this web domain silently ceases to function! Please update your bookmarks/links once the new version of RIDE is out!
Why do I see the "Cannot format target Track X" during dumping to an image?
Applies to: RIDE 1.7 and later
It's because the target image does not support all features required to correctly store all source tracks. Here are some situations that will cause this error:
- variable number of sectors per source track to an unstructured target image (e.g. *.IMA or *.BIN) with constant number of sectors per track,
- there were sector read errors and the target image cannot account for them,
- duplicate sector IDs.
A guaranteed solution to any of these situations is to use an alternative target image that supports the required features (e.g. a *.DSK or *.SCP image, or KryoFlux Stream files). You normally won't see this message when dumping an image back to a floppy.
